Distribution of tuna cases in Male’ switches to nighttime; issuance of online tokens to begin soon

The Local Government Ministry has switched the distribution of tuna cases for Ramadan in the greater Male’ area to nighttime, and announced the decision to begin issuing online tokens.
In a statement on Saturday morning, the Local Government Ministry announced that it has made two key changes to ensure more convenient arrangements.
The ministry said that starting Saturday, the distribution of tuna cases will be carried out during nighttime. The ministry said it made the decision in light of the hot weather conditions.
The ministry also announced that it will soon begin issuing online tokens in order to reduce queue time, and that more details will be released later.
With the changes, the distribution of tuna cases will now take place between 08:00 pm and 12:00 am.

People need to present their national identity card and one month’s electricity bill to collect the tuna cases. The distribution of tuna cases will be limited to three cases (for three electricity meters) per person.
Tuna cases can be collected from 13 locations, with the number of tokens varying from location to location.

MIFCO complex in Maafannu: 200 tokens
MTCC Sawmill: 200 tokens
Henveiru Football Stadium: 100 tokens
Galolhu Football Stadium, Setup 1: 50 tokens
Galolhu Football Stadium, Setup 2: 50 tokens
Galolhu Football Stadium, Setup 3: 50 tokens
Galolhu Football Stadium, Setup 4: 50 tokens
Social Center: 100 tokens
Vilimale’ WAMCO site: 100 tokens
Umar Zahir Building, Hulhumale’ Phase I: 100 tokens
POLCO Tower, Hulhumale’ Phase I: 100 tokens
H10, Hulhumale’ Phase II: 100 tokens
Kaamil Didi School, Hulhumale’ Phase II: 100 tokens

Local Government Minister Adam Shareef Umar said on Friday that over 9,390 tuna cases have been distributed in the Male’ area. He said that the distribution will continue until all households are certain to have received a tuna cases.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had announced the decision to distribute tuna cases to Maldivian citizens as a Ramadan gift in November last year – during a ceremony held to mark his administration’s one-year anniversary.
In Ramadan last year, the government provided discounts on utility bills and distributed 1.6 million kilos of food staples to 82,000 households.
