NSPA disburses MVR 4.97 Mil to single parents in June

According to data from National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), the agency provided financial assistance totaling MVR 4.97 million in June 2025 towards single parents within low-income bracket.
The agency provides financial support to various income groups, which includes low-income single parents in one. According to NSPA statistics, there are a total of 2,905 single parents currently in the Maldives while 38 new parents registered last month.
NSPA makes its highest disbursement in financially supporting children and minors, with 4,972 helped in June alone while 84 children were registered under the financial support program last month.
Although NSPA confirmed disbursing MVR 4.97 million towards single parents, the agency did not break down this total to provide exact disbursements specifically towards children and parents.
The agency previously disclosed statistics of disbursements made towards persons with disabilities and those who require therapeutic treatment, which totaled at MVR 51 million in June.
Statistics from NSPA shared previously indicated a total of MVR 4,055,281 were disbursed towards 108 individuals requiring therapeutic treatment. Another 55 individuals received MVR 385,302 for therapeutic treatment under a different program.
The annual NSPA budget is MVR 3.9 billion for this year, while statistics from the Ministry of Finance as of June 26 showed the agency has spent MVR 1.5 billion so far this year – indicating one-third of the budgeted total has been utilized.
