Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has extended an invitation to King Charles III to visit the Maldives.
In the ongoing trip to Samoa to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2024), Vice President Latheef shared a photo with King Charles on social media platform X.

In the post, the Vice President said that on behalf of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, he had extended an invitation to King Charles III to make a visit to the Maldives.ss
In 1972, during former President Ibrahim Nasir's presidency, King Charles' mother, Queen Elizabeth II had conducted an official visit to the Maldives. This was the only visit from English royalty to the Maldives.
