India Prime Minister’s Special Envoy Arrives for Hanimaadhoo Airport Inauguration

Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of India, Minister of Civil Aviation of India, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu arrived in the Maldives on Sunday ahead of the official inauguration of the Hanimaadhoo International Airport.
The Special Envoy was received at the Velana International Airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel.
During the visit, Minister of Civil Aviation of India will be jointly inaugurating the Hanimaadhoo International Airport, a project funded under the Line of Credit assistance of the Government of India, at a special ceremony to be held at Hanimadhoo, later Sunday.
Minister of Civil Aviation of India is accompanied by a business delegation comprising of the Indian Civil Aviation Sector.
Hanimaadhoo International Airport features a 2,465-metre runway that can handle the largest Code C aircraft, including the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. The airport is designed to reflect the natural beauty of the Maldives, and will have the capacity to serve 1.3 million passengers annually.
The practical work of the USD 136.6 million project, undertaken by India’s JMC Projects, commenced in January 2023.
