The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has issued a public appeal after releasing surveillance footage of an unidentified man wanted in connection with an economic crime investigation.
Police allege that the suspect used counterfeit United States dollars to purchase goods from a local shop.
While the released CCTV footage clearly shows the individual’s appearance and behaviour, MPS said the suspect has not yet been traced or formally identified.
The case is being investigated by the Economic Crime Investigation Department.
MPS has urged anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the individual to contact the police hotline on 3322112 or the Economic Crime Investigation Department on 9790048.
