Fahi Dhirulhun Corporation (FDC), on Thursday, has begun handing over flats awarded under the former administration’s ‘Gedhoruveriya’ housing scheme via flat portal.
FDC’s Spokesperson told Sun on Thursday that they have begun handing over the flats to recipients, adding they are being notified to collect the keys via portal and SMS.
The first out of the 4,000 flats being handed over are the flats located in Amaan Udhares Tower 14.
FDC said the flats will be handed over after completing finishing work, including the installation of doors, windows, fans and bathroom fixtures, as well as tiling and wall painting.
According to the Corporation, it has completed signing the agreements with 3,000 flat recipients. Arrangements have also been made for the recipients to settle the MVR 25,000 advance payment, the Corporation added. The keys will be handed over once the payment is settled.
FDC did not disclose an exact date when the recipients can enter the flats.

The Corporation had begun handing over the flats amid concerns regarding the draw of recipients who scored above 76 points but were left out during the draw to allocate flats.
Housing Ministry had uncovered that draws were conducted for 315 applicants with 75 points before flats were allocated to 301 applicants with 76+ points. This led the Ministry to request an investigation from the Anti-Corruption Commission on August 6th.
Although ACC has yet to decide in the case, Housing Ministry had decided that the draw for people who scored above 75 points will be held once flats are allocated for the people who scored 76 and above first.
With no updates on the matter, the recipients remain in an “unknown”.
