New doctor arrives in Ihavandhoo, dialysis services resume

Dialysis services at the Ihavandhoo Health Center have officially resumed on Monday, following the arrival of a new doctor.
The Ihavandhoo Health Center confirmed on Tuesday that a new medical professional has been assigned to the dialysis unit, allowing for the reinstatement of services.
The center's operations had been temporarily suspended after the previous doctor departed abruptly before his scheduled leave.
Details regarding any actions taken against the former doctor remain unclear, as attempts to reach the Health Ministry for comment were unsuccessful.
The dialysis service at the Ihavandhoo Amina Dhiyo Memorial Hospital (IADMH) was inaugurated on February 27 by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed.
Ihavandhoo, situated in the northern Maldives, is geographically isolated within its atoll, characterized by widely spaced islands. Aside from H.A. Dhidhdhoo, the atoll's capital, Ihavandhoo hosts the only other dialysis facility. Travel by speedboat from Ihavandhoo to Dhidhdhoo typically takes around 40 minutes.
