Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has built a 3,000-square foot shed to support the expedited clearance of perishable food items imported into the Maldives during Ramadan.
According to MPL, the shed aims to speed up the clearance of perishable goods arriving at port in the Male’ area. The facility will help ensure steady market availability of essential goods by reducing delays.
The shed is also intended to help businesses unload and clear goods faster and strengthen the handling of the increased volume of food imports during Ramadan. It will also provide additional storage space for the safe storage perishable items, MPL said.
MPL regularly implements measures during Ramadan to strengthen port operations and ease clearance due to the annual surge in food imports.
