Vice President Uz Mohamed Latheef has called on journalists to exercise greater responsibility in the dissemination of information and to remain steadfast in upholding the core principles of journalism. He made these remarks in a post on his official X account.
He emphasised that ethical journalism must ensure the quality and accuracy of information, promote accountability and transparency, and uphold the principles of democracy. The Vice President further noted that when ethical standards are disregarded, it can lead to misinformation, amplify harm, and create unrest among members of the public who rely on journalists for accurate reporting.
