MNDF has said that they have found items drifting on sea which is believed to be from the boat “Maarana 4” that was travelling from Malé to Kuramathi Resort in North Alifu atoll. They said that there is no sign of the crew on board the ship.
There was one local man and two foreigners on the 75 foot blue boat.
MNDF said that light jackets and some pallets believed to be from the missing boat was found at sea.
They said that the items were discovered by a Landing Craft from the Coast Guard Malé Area Squadron taking part in the search for the vessel. The items were found five miles west of K. Ziyaaraifushi.
The owner of Maarana 4 said that the boat was last heard from around 9 p.m. last night near A.A. Veligandu. The Coast Guard search operation for the vessel is still on going.
MNDF Coast Guard requests that anyone with information about the vessel contact the Coast Guard emergency number 191 or at 339-5981 or 339-8898.
Two of the three vessels that went missing yesterday have capsized. But the people on board have been rescued.
