Bank of Maldives on Sunday issued a statement for their customers to be vigilant over fraudulent phone calls and emails they may receive seemingly from the bank.
The bank said that customers were directed to a sham webpage that looks like the BML Internet Banking login page via which they are asked to share their internet banking username, password, and email. And that phone calls were also being made asking their customers for this information.
BML advised that customers be extra vigilant regarding such phone calls and emails and refrain from sharing such information. The bank also advised its customers not to log in to internet banking other than from BML webpage and mobile application.
It said that it wanted to “assure that BML will not share confidential information such as customers’ internet banking username and password.”
BML said that information regarding the fraudulent phone calls and emails or any other information could be clarified through their customer service number 3330200 or email – customerservice@bml.com.mv. And that assistance would also available 24/7 via their Facebook and Twitter page.
