President Dr Mohamed Waheed has called on all groups to assist with the efforts to hold a free and fair presidential election, scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, 19 October, as per the Supreme Court ruling.
In a statement issued by the President’s Office today, the president urged the Elections Commission, political parties, and all relevant authorities to cooperate in solving the current problems, in order to establish an environment conducive to a peaceful election.
The president also asked to organise the election such that every individual gets to fully exercise his right to vote.
He also urged to prioritise the nation’s interests over personal interests, and to refrain from all activities that might obstruct the election.
