Nasheed 'won't go after' security forces if elected

The former president won the first round of presidential elections held on Saturday with an overwhelming majority, 18 months after he was ousted from office in what he claims a "coup" backed by elements of the security forces. Speaking during a campaign rally held Wednesday evening, Nasheed assured that he has no hard feelings towards the police or the military. MDP government would strive to strengthen and make both the police and military professional institutions, he said. In his speech, Nasheed also noted that during his tenure as president he had established means for members of security forces to retire with dignity and live their lives with pride.
