Youth Minister's house vandalised

Police media official said that the main door leading to the minister’s apartment was damaged and a window was smashed. The car belonging to Fahmy had its window smashed while parked outside the residence. Police believe that these incidents were related to the protests that were carried out last night. Meanwhile a police vehicle had its window smashed, two other vehicles and a special force’s vehicle was also damaged during the night, police added. Police also stated that some of the policemen were injured during last night’s protests and palm trees lining some of the streets were damaged and uprooted by the protesters. Last night’s protest is part of a series of protests by opposition members against the recent arrests of Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, Vice President of Dhivehi Qaumee Party (DQP) and Criminal Court’s Chief Judge Abdulla Mohamed by the government. Judge Abdulla Mohamed remains in custody after he was arrested by Special Forces last Monday night against a high court order.
