Renowned writer and former Haa Alif Atoll Chief Adam Abdul Rahman, widely known as Utheemu Adambe, has been appointed Special Advisor to the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage. The appointment, made on Thursday, is at the level of State Minister.
Utheemu Adambe brings 42 years of public service experience and a distinguished literary career to the role. He was awarded the Public Service Encouragement Award in 2004 for his contributions to Dhivehi literature, followed by the National Award of Honor in Dhivehi Language and Literature in 2016. He also received a national award this year on Republic Day.
According to Sun's sources, Utheemu Adambe has already begun work in his new role. He is expected to focus on promoting and studying issues related to heritage, culture, and language, with a strong emphasis on national identity.
The Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage currently has a high number of political appointees and contract employees.
