IGMH: Rumors of suspension of surgeries ‘false’, no shortage of consumables

The Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has refuted rumors that it has suspended routine surgeries due to a shortage in its stock of consumables.
The denial comes after rumors spread on social media on Sunday that the main government hospital in Male’ has run out of basic and critical consumables and has limited its surgeries to only emergency surgeries.
Abdul Razzaq Haleem, the CEO of the Male’ Group of Hospitals, told Sun that the rumors are baseless.
"Operations are going as scheduled. And our consumables are also in stock," he said.
The IGMH later released a brief statement on the social media platform X condemning the spread of baseless rumors that mislead the public.

“We provide assurance we have not suspended any surgeries at this hospital,” said the hospital.
“We condemn in the harshest terms the spread of such false information on social media that is misleading the public. We urge everyone to be more responsible in spreading information.”
