President’s Office announced today that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s official visit to Estonia cost MVR 1.4 million.
According to the details released, the total expenditure for the trip, which took place from January 13 to 17, amounted to MVR 1,371,069.18.
The President’s Office has been publishing details of the costs and achievements of government officials after each trip.
President Muizzu visited Estonia at the invitation of Estonian President Dr Alar Karis.
During his visit, he held consultative meetings with various high-ranking officials, including the Estonian President, the Speaker of Parliament, ministers, the Mayor of Tartu, representatives from the education sector, and other leaders.
Discussions during these meetings focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. The Estonian government and its institutions expressed their readiness to cooperate with Maldives in multiple areas.
Three Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) were signed between the two governments during the visit.
One of the agreements focused on the exchange of information and cooperation in climate change, environment, and energy. The second MOU was established to initiate political consultations between the two countries.
Additionally, an agreement was signed between the Maldives' Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology and Estonia’s Ministry of Justice and Digital Affairs.
The President’s Office previously stated that the visit played a crucial role in paving the way for the Maldives' vision of digitalization.
