Isdhoo defeated Gan and claimed the Laamu atoll's champions title of the Golden Futsal Challenge.
Gan previously won the atoll title six times, however, last night's final match did not end in the island's favour. The match tied 1-1 with goals from Ahmed Haleem and Isdhoo's captain Ali Humaiz, leading to a penalty shootout where Isdhoo won 3-2.
Isdhoo's goalkeeper Wisam Abdulla was named man of the match while Humaiz was named the man of the atoll. Ahmed Haleem of the Gan team scored the most goals.
The remaining three finals were played at the Rehendhi Turf Stadium in Hulhumalé yesterday. Th. Thimarafushi, B. Eydhafushi and Lh. Kurendhoo all defended their atoll titles in these matches.
In the Baa atoll league, Thimarafushi defeated Hirilandhoo 2-1 in the final to win the atoll title for the seventh time. Ahmed Aflaz of Thimarafushi was named the best player of the final match while Mohamed Nishaah of Hirilandhoo scored the most goals.
B atoll's winner was Eydhafushi which beat Thulhaadhoo 3-1 in the final. Nisham Mohamed Rasheed was named the man of the match while Abdullah Nasih was named the best player of the atoll. Hussain Shareef scored the most goals.
As for the Shaviyani atoll league, Kurendhoo won the league for the third consecutive time by beating Naifaru 2-0 in the final. Kurendhoo's goalkeeper Ibrahim Misam was named the best player of the final while Naifaru's Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed was named the best player and top scorer of the atoll.
Tonight, Maafushi and Kaashidhoo will face off at 08:00 pm to battle out for the Kaafu atoll championship. After the atoll finals, teams will play in the zone rounds with two zone four matches and two zone two matches scheduled for tonight.
