Draw to allocate Giraavarufalhu plots completed

Under the revised land use plan a new draw to determine plot numbers for land being issued from Giraavarufalhu took place on the 31 January.
The draw follows a new land use plan for the location which was gazetted on 26 January, with 4,072 plots to be allocated under the Binveriyaa Scheme. The previous land use plan had 610 land plots unallocated, according to the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Infrastructure.
The plot sizes for the land plots allocated are as follows. 2605 land plots of 1250sqft, 2313 land plots of 1650sqft, 253 land plots of 2050sqft and one land plot of 2450 sqft.
The draw took place at the social center of the nation’s capital, Male’ city. The draw was conducted by the ministry staff, with recipients of land plots in attendance. The draw was broadcasted live on PSM. In an effort to enhance transparency, recipients were also sent SMS in real time for the land plots allocated as the draw was being conducted.
The ministry also revealed that they will announce a date for issuance of agreements and land registries later. Furthermore, once the ongoing land reclamation work is completed and demarcated, plots will be handed over to its recipients.
The government has decided to expand the reclamation effort at Giraavarufalhu by 113 hectares.
The previous land-use plan lacked adequate areas to provide basic facilities compared to the population. As suc the current administration took on the work to ensure a revised land use plan was formulated, ensuring adequate space for necessary facilities including green spaces and basic facilities.
