His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended congratulations and greetings to the Right Honourable Ramchandra Paudel, President of Nepal, and the Right Honourable Balendra Shah, Prime Minister of Nepal, on the occasion of Nepal's Republic Day.
In his letter to President Paudel, President Dr Muizzu emphasised that the Maldives deeply values its long-standing friendship with Nepal for the common benefit of both countries and their shared neighbourhood, expressing confidence that these warm ties will continue to strengthen, advancing cooperation and prosperity.
To Prime Minister Shah, the President described the milestone as a testament to Nepal's resilience and enduring spirit. Acknowledging the Prime Minister's leadership following his landslide electoral victory earlier this year, he noted it is heartening to witness the strides Nepal is making towards greater prosperity and democratic consolidation. The President further expressed confidence that the cordial friendship between the two nations, rooted in mutual interest and respect, would continue to grow, bringing their peoples closer together with shared returns.
President Dr Muizzu additionally extended personal best wishes for the health, happiness and wellbeing of both leaders, and for the continued advancement, peace and prosperity of Nepal.
On his official X account, the President observed that Republic Day underscores the countless contributions Nepalis have made to build a progressive nation, one whose unique identity and rich traditions are honoured in equal measure.
Nepal observes Republic Day annually on 28 May, marking its transition to a federal democratic republic in 2008.
