Shareef resigns as ambassador to Sri Lanka

Mohamed Hussain Shareef has resigned as Maldives Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
Speaker to RaajjeMV, Shareef said he handed over his letter of resignation on Sunday but that the foreign ministry has requested him to remain in his position until Friday.
Shareef said he decided to resign as ambassador in order to allow someone new to take his position in the new administration.
Shareef was appointed as the residential ambassador to Sri Lanka in October of last year. Before that he was the ambassador to Japan.
He has also been appointed as the Secretary General of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) earlier this October.
