Police Integrity Commission states that police officers had not violated any code of conduct or regulations during the famed altercation between former President Mohamed Nasheed and officers.
Following the incident، since then Mohamed Nasheed had filed the complaint at Police Integrity Commission. The commission had then carried out an investigation on the matter، for which they claim that police officers responsible of summoning Nasheed to court had not violated any regulations.
In a letter sent by PIC to former President، explaining the outcome of the investigation، the commission writes that based on video footage and evidence it is found that police had opted to using necessary force required in summoning Mohamed Nasheed to court before the scheduled time.
The letter further writes that Mohamed Nasheed had refused to the consent of police officers who had continuously requested from him to enter the court on time.
While PIC writes that police had acted within the regulations and law، Human Rights Commission of Maldives had condemned the brute force used by police officers against Nasheed in order to summon him to court.
