Lawmaker of Maamigili constituency Qasim confirmed the matter to Mihaaru but said that he is not aware of the reason behind the summons.
He added that Police have banned him from traveling abroad for the next 30 days.
Meanwhile, Deputy Leader of JP, lawmaker of Kinbidhoo constituency Abdulla Riyaz, was also summoned to Police headquarters recently for questioning. Speaking to press after the interrogation, Riyaz said that he is being accused over his recent political statements and for holding confidential state information.
While top opposition figures are being presented to Maldives Police Service, it is noteworthy that they are the ones who initiated the motion of no confidence against parliament speaker Abdullah Maseeh.
