Maldives Police Service has arrested a suspect for sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl in Southern Maldives.
Maldives Police Service report the case was reported to the agency at 11:35 pm on Thursday, July 11.
The suspect, identified as a 21-year-old male, was arrested under court order on Friday, July 12.
The suspect has been remanded to five days in custody at a facility determined by Ministry of Home Affairs.
Investigation into the case is being carried out by Maldives Police Service in collaboration with other relevant State agencies.
