Laamu Atoll Council has issued MVR 1.5 million as educational loans for the youth of the Atoll.
The loans were awarded to six recipients.
Laamu Atoll Council’s Isdhoo Constituency Member Ismail Shafeeu stated that the loans were awarded from the Atoll’s trust funds for the education of the youth. The Council reported that the recipients can seek education from Maldives and abroad. The Council also reported that they would be routinely monitoring the recipients throughout their study duration.
Shafeeu added that the loan has to be repaid in installments, with the first installment due two months after the education was complete. He also said that the Council would allot a new budget for the second round of the loans.
