Jumhooree Party (JP) Parliamentary Group (PG) members and Kendhoo Constituency Member of Parliament Ali Hussain has stated that there should be no differences applicable between citizens when disbursing Ramadan Allowance.
Speaking in the Parliament session held today, Ali Hussain stated that standardizing the Ramadan allowance for the sake of it does not yield any solutions for the issue. He also stated fasting in Ramadan was not only applicable to those in civil position but mandatory to all, even those who are unemployed. He added that those unemployed face more difficult times in Ramadan.
Ali Hussain stated that superficial measures for show do not resolve underlying issues. He stated that the only solution for the issues would arise only if the Government seeks out to actually resolve them.
In today’s Parliament session Ali Hussain called on the Government to hasten passing the bills on minimum wage and disability allowances. He also called on the Government to speed up their work on subsidies for farmers and fishermen.
