The former President Mohamed Nasheed had requested Civil Court to issue an order to necessitate MNDF to extend him 24 hour protection.
President Nasheed on a letter sent to the Civil Court، signed by himself، said that security services is required by the law، to provide protection to a person who has been the President of Maldives، as himself.
He further requested Civil Court to issue an interim order to grant him the protection of MNDF until the court has come to an ultimate decision on the matter.
In addition، President Nasheed noted that although he is under the custody of police due to an ongoing court case، the protection by MNDF cannot be disregarded.
