A contract has been signed between the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and Fenaka Corporation Limited for the provision of water and sewerage services to 100 housing units constructed in Vilufushi, Thaa Atoll.
The agreement was signed by State Minister at the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, Ali Faris Yoosuf, and Fenaka Corporation’s Deputy Managing Director, Mohamed Arif.
The Vilufushi housing project was initially handed over to Noomadi Resorts and Residences Private Limited in 2011. However, the project failed to progress for various reasons. The project was then handed over to Amin Construction Private Limited in 2021, to complete all the unfinished works on the 64 housing units under construction in the island and the construction of additional 36 units. While the construction of the housing units have now reached completion, utility connections have not yet been completed.
The value of the contract awarded to Fenaka Corporation is USD 895,537.14. The company has been given a deadline of eight months to complete the project.
