Part of Boduthakurufaanu Road to Close for Tarring Works

Road authorities have announced that a segment of the north side of Boduthakurufaanu Magu in Malé will be closed to traffic starting Saturday as part of a major road-widening and resurfacing project.
According to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), the contract calls for widening the road to four lanes, installation of new drainage, sheet-piling, and a full resurfacing over approximately 830 metres. The contract also covers road marking and signage across 737 metres.
Police have confirmed the listed road closures will begin at the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building and extend to Hosnuhina Street. Additional closures are planned for Mohammed Ismail Deedi Street, Kandidonmanik Street, Jumhuri Road, part of Chandhanee Road and Ibrahim Hassan Deedi Road. Parking will also be banned on parts of Hosnuhina Street and Orchid Road up to Bandara Mosque to facilitate the works.
Motorists and residents are advised to follow alternate routes and pay close attention to posted signage. The exact duration of the closures has not yet been formally announced, but authorities say the lane-expansion segment is a key phase of the larger infrastructure upgrade.
The project also forms part of a broader expansion plan for the north side of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, aimed at improving traffic flow and drainage on Malé’s main urban corridor.
