UK Offers Academic Assistance for Maldives’ Heritage Protection

The United Kingdom has expressed its readiness to provide academic assistance to the Maldives in the field of heritage protection.
The British Ambassador to the Maldives, Nicholas David Low made the pledge during a meeting with the Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim.
Discussions focused on the ongoing efforts related to the Dhivehi language, history and heritage, as well as opportunities to further develop the heritage protection sector in the Maldives. The Ambassador reaffirmed the UK's interest in contributing academic expertise in the field of heritage protection.
Heritage protection is a key priority of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s administration. The government is formulating and implementing plans to protect and preserve cultural assets, ensure their proper recognition and secure funding for heritage management initiatives. The Ministry of Language, Culture and Heritage is already engaged in projects to protect and preserve ancient heritage sites across the Maldives.
