President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has commenced a three-day official tour of Laamu Atoll, visiting eleven inhabited islands as part of his administration’s nationwide initiative to strengthen direct engagement with local communities.
The itinerary includes Isdhoo, Kalaidhoo, Dhan’bidhoo, Maabaidhoo, Mundoo, Gan, Maavah, Fonadhoo, Maamendhoo, Hithadhoo, and Kunahandhoo. Each stop is intended to facilitate dialogue with island councils and women’s development committees (WDCs), with discussions centred on development priorities and strategies to advance community welfare.
Beyond formal consultations, the president is also expected to meet directly with residents, gaining insight into the lived realities and aspirations that shape daily life across the atoll.
This tour reflects President Muizzu’s broader commitment to visit every inhabited island, reinforcing his pledge to promote inclusive governance and decentralised development. By fostering direct dialogue with atoll, island, and city councils, the administration seeks to ensure that national policy remains responsive to local needs.
Accompanying the president are cabinet ministers and senior officials from key government institutions, underscoring the emphasis placed on collaborative leadership and policy coordination.
