National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed an individual placed in transit quarantine at Addu City has tested positive for COVID-19.
Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez revealed the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 in Addu City is a 65-year-old woman. She was undergoing transit quarantine at Addu Equator Village Quarantine Facility to return to her home island from Male’ City, when she tested positive for COVID-19.
Providing further information on the case, Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sodiq said the woman tested positive after completing 17 days in transit quarantine in Addu. He said while the first sample has tested positive, a second sample has been sent to Male’ City to confirm the result. If confirmed, she would become the first official case of COVID-19 in Addu City.
