President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed have observed the Fish Filleting Competition held in Dhuvaafaru, Raa Atoll, to commemorate this year's Fishermen's Day.
The event featured separate categories for men and women, with winners selected for first, second, and third places in each section. Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam presented awards to the winners.
Participation included 13 competitors in the women’s category and six competitors in the men’s category. Ali Naeem won first place in the men’s category, finishing in 1 minute and 49 seconds, while Aishath Ali secured first place in the women’s category, finishing in 1 minute 54 seconds. Both received USD 650 as the official cash prize, in addition to other cash prizes.
Ministers and company heads also participated in a special category of the competition.
