Physiotherapy services have been officially launched at Maafushi Health Centre in Maafushi, Kaafu Atoll. The service was officially inaugurated by State Minister for Health Ahmed Qasim at a special ceremony held for the occasion.
Speaking at the ceremony, State Minister Qasim said the service fulfils a long-standing request from the community. He expressed hope that additional services can be introduced in the island in the future.
According to the Ministry of Health, residents will no longer need to travel to Male’ to receive physiotherapy treatment. With Maafushi being a flourishing local tourism island, the newly introduced service will enable early treatment of injuries, particularly for people involved in sports and recreational activities as well as visitors. The Ministry further highlighted that the service will support the local economy and social wellbeing while also benefiting nearby islands in the region.
The launch is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare services in island communities.
