The police on Thursday arrested 10 people in a counter-narcotics operation in Male’ City, three of whom have been remanded in custody, while the rest have been released.
According to a statement released by the police on Sunday morning, the arrests were made on Thursday, based on information received by Counter-Narcotics Intelligence.
The police raided two properties linked to the suspects, from where they seized 66.92 grams of drugs and three bottles of alcohol.
When presented before the Criminal Court for their remand hearing on Friday, the court granted conditional release to seven of the suspects, and remanded the other three in custody of the police.
The police identified the trio remanded in the case as:
Ahmed Thaiseer, 27, Roashaneemaage, S. Hulhudhoo
Akram Mohamed, 28, Saamiyana, N. Magoodhoo
Aishath Faiha Thaha, 19, Flower House, HDh. Neykurendhoo
Thaiseer was remanded in custody of the police for seven days, while Akram and Faiha were remanded in custody for five days.
The case is under further investigation by the police.
