Abdulla Ashraf was removed from his position as head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) on Sunday, a day after a financial intelligence report flagging suspicious transactions by a company owned by Ibrahim Shujau, a senior parliamentarian from the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC), leaked on social media.
