Widespread rain will affect areas across the Maldives over the next three days, forecasts the national weather agency.
A spokesperson from Maldives Meteorological Service told Sun on Saturday that the agency expects widespread rain over the next 24 hours.
The agency forecasts the widespread rains to prevail Monday through Wednesday, with strong winds in northern and central Maldives from Tuesday through Wednesday.
There is currently a white alert for strong winds in place until at least 06:00 pm Saturday, as the Meteorological Service forecasts the area from HA. Atoll to Th. Atoll to be affected by strong winds of 19 - 24 miles per hour with gusts of 45 miles per hour and rough seas.
The national weather agency attributes the strong winds and rough seas to the active Southwest Monsoon, known locally as the Hulhangu Monsoon.
