The Island Council of Muli, Meemu Atoll, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, noting that the long-awaited development of Muli Airport brings an end to over 30 years of anticipation for the island’s residents.
During a meeting held Tuesday at the Secretariat of the Meemu Atoll Council, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with representatives from the Muli Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and local community leaders. The Council warmly thanked the President for making the aspirations of Muli’s residents a reality through this significant infrastructure project.
The Council took the opportunity to highlight other pressing development needs for the island, including requests for air-conditioning in school classrooms and the establishment of rehabilitation services locally. They also emphasised the importance of prioritising human resource development by providing training across various fields. Furthermore, the Council expressed interest in creating a dedicated picnic island for residents and discussed additional needs related to the tourism, healthcare, and sports sectors.
In response, the President assured attendees that he was committed to fulfilling these promises and would carefully consider the concerns raised. Through Ministers and heads of state-owned enterprises present at the meeting, he also provided updates on ongoing projects on the island, reaffirming the government’s dedication to Muli’s continued development.
