The Maldives and Kiribati have held high-level talks to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in tackling climate change and promoting sustainable tourism.
The discussions took place during a meeting between a parliamentary delegation from Kiribati and Maldivian Minister of Environment and Tourism, Tariq Ibrahim.
According to the Ministry, the meeting served as a platform to deepen relations between the two island nations, with a strong focus on sharing the Maldives’ experiences in sustainable tourism and climate resilience.
The Kiribati delegation highlighted the Maldives’ efforts in addressing climate change as a model for small island developing states (SIDS) and expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in this field.
Both sides also discussed expanding tourism ties and environmental protection initiatives, agreeing to hold further meetings to explore future opportunities.
