President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday announced plans to sign contracts for around 800 projects this year, adding that he remains confident in being able to deliver all his pledges.
He made the remarks at the inauguration of the M. Muli Airport on Tuesday morning.
In his speech, President Muizzu said that multiple development projects had been stalled when he assumed office in 2023. He said that these projects were ready to restart now.
He said that the government has signed contracts with state-owned enterprises for 390 projects across the Maldives this year. He said that he meets with his cabinet of a weekly basis to urge the expedition of these projects.
He added that the government will be signing contracts for around 300 projects, including with private contractors, over the course of the next two to three weeks.

“Therefore, we are contracting around 700 or 800 projects over the course of four to five months starting from February. To ensure the speedy completion of projects. We have full confidence regarding the successful completion of these projects,” he said.
President Muizzu said the projects are well planned, and will be executed with zero issues.
He said the projects will begin producing results next year.
President Muizzu also reiterated his pledge to ensure that no citizen or island is sidelined in provision of public services.
