The High Court has accepted the appeal filed by former Fenaka Corporation Managing Director Ahmed Saeed Mohamed (Fenaka Saeed) against the Criminal Court’s four‑year prison sentence issued in late September.
Saeed was convicted of abuse of official position for signing a settlement agreement with Blazon Inc. despite no work being carried out under the contract. While Saeed’s case concluded with a verdict, a related case involving former Fenaka official Dheena had remained pending at the time.
Saeed appealed his conviction, and the High Court has now formally accepted the case for review.
He is also facing a separate corruption charge over Fenaka’s purchase of an ice plant. According to the Anti‑Corruption Commission (ACC), the decision to acquire the ice plant was approved at the company’s 18th board meeting in 2023, despite Saeed being aware that the project carried a highly negative internal rate of return and net present value for the company. He has been charged with abuse of official position in that case as well, which remains ongoing in court.
