Indian Foreign Minister to Visit Maldives on Sunday

Sushma Swaraj the External Affairs Minister of India will be visiting the Maldives on 17th March 2019.
So far, no government officials have revealed the purpose of her visit. According to sources, the foreign minister will sign agreements with the government of Maldives. Those includes increasing the import quota of commodities like onions and potatoes.
Since President Solih assumed office, the relationship between Maldives and India has strengthened. The president has agreed to frame the national security policy as India wishes. In return, India committed to provide loans to the Maldives.
Many fear that the Maldives is becoming a puppet state of India.
