Jumuhoory Party has been asked by the Elections Commission to change the party logo and flag. The secretary general of JP said that EC asked the party to change the flag and the logo before 1st June 2017.
Sameer said that the logo and flag of the party were approved in 2005 under the political party act. He said that hence, he does not believe that EC has the authority to ask the party to change the logo and the flag.
He said that the party council discussed about the matter during today’s meeting but a decision has not been reached yet. JP was asked to change the logo and flag, under the new guidelines passed by the home ministry recently. JP’s flag has some similarities with the flag designated for the president.
