Commonwealth has stated that the appeal of Nasheed will be closely observed by them.
The statement was made by the Secretary General of Commonwealth Kamalesh Sharma.
The statement has expressed concern over the aftereffects of sentence of 13 years of jail issued to Nasheed.
“We urge to resolve the conflicts by following the commonwealth’s guidelines and adhering to democracy’s conventions” read the statement.
The statement issued by commonwealth has stated that the statement made by Foreign Minister Dhunya Maumoon to work together with the international communities to resolve is much appreciated by the Commonwealth.
The statement further urged the institutions to provide services by attaining the respect of the citizens and commonwealth has put forth to provide such assistance.
