Bridges and industrial progress will benefit only when good citizens are made- Shidhatha

Former Deputy Minister of Law and Gender, Shidhatha Shareef has said that bridges and industrial progress will only benefit the nation when good citizens are made.
Shidhatha said that no government has the capability to bring rectification overnight. She said that sincerity and honesty is also very important to achieve this. She added that it is imperative that the government has good intentions to rectify and not cause corruption.
She said that the current administration so far has not been seen as genuinely concerned in correcting the situation of the Maldives.
Shidhatha said that the government has the opportunity to bring rectification as they have a clear majority in the Peoples’ Majlis.
“However, we do not see them working towards bringing rectification. We are witnessing things getting even worse,” she said.
Shidhatha said that government and authority is a trust given by the people. She said that those given this trust should be honest and sincere.
“They should establish peace and stability. They should establish justice and fairness and equality. We see the opposite of this. We see the government oppressing their political opponents trying to destroy and annihilate them from the political sphere,” she added.
