Home Minister Ahmed Azleen have said that, President Yameen will win easily if PPM decides to hold primaries to decide the party candidate for the 2018 Presidential Elections.
Speaking at a press conference held by PPM PG and PPM Council, minister Azleen said that, they do not believe that a primary should be held, but if one were to be held President Yameen would easily win it. Minister Azleen said that now President Yameen has more members in his team, than the first time when he won it in 2013.
He also said that it is a democratic norm to give the party ticket to incumbent president for the stability of the nation and the party.
“I do not think that there is someone who can run against President Yameen in the primaries. If primaries are held President Yameen can win easily” said the Minister.
Several other senior figures of the party spoke in support of President Yameen, during today’s news conference.
