China, Maldives begins discussion on free-trade agreement

China and Maldives have begun discussion on the free-trade agreement today in Bandos Island Resort.
Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed said that the Government wished to successfully conclude the discussions at the earliest time possible. He added that the Government will work to ensure the discussions were successfully.
Minister Saeed said the discussion represents the enduring friendship between both countries.
At the start of the discussion, Minister Saeed said that they will work on implementing the guidelines agreed upon as soon as possible.
The Chinese delegations said the Maldives was a key partner in the region. Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Fukang took part in the opening ceremony of the discussions.
