Maldivian authorities to investigate Air India's 'illegal landing case'

While an Air India flight accidentally landed on Maldives’ main airport’s newly developed runway on Friday, authorities have said that ‘illegal’ landing will be fully investigated as a serious matter.
While the runway is yet to be completed, the A320 flight landed there on Friday evening. While photos and videos showed a tarpaulin sort of cover tangled on one of the flights’ wheels, there were no injuries in the incident.
Citing Defence Minster Adam Shareef, the state’s Public Service Media (PSM) said that the ‘illegal landing’ will be investigated as a serious matter.
According to PSM, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has confirmed that they are investigating the incident, together with the Civil Aviation Authority.
MACL noted that they have yet to obtain the approvals to start operations on the new runway, adding that the administrative work is ongoing currently.
