Hassan Mamdhooh (known as Manday) was convicted of 94 charges by the Criminal Court on Saturday in connection with the K-Park apartment fraud case.
More than 100 charges were originally filed against him. Manday failed to appear for a hearing on Thursday, prompting the court to order police to locate him. He was subsequently taken into custody the same day, according to police.
The judge said Manday will be sentenced on Tuesday.
Charges against Manday include:
46 counts of tax evasion
44 counts of committing a fraudulent act
3 counts of knowingly issuing an invalid document with intent to deceive
1 count of money laundering
A second defendant, Jaishan Saeed, was convicted of 89 charges. These include 45 counts of participating in tax evasion, 40 counts of committing a fraudulent act, three counts of knowingly issuing an invalid document with intent to deceive, and one count of aiding and abetting money laundering.
The court also ordered the state to seize Manday’s FW Residence apartment and its attached basement parking slot.

The case stems from allegations that K-Park apartments were fraudulently sold to multiple buyers using forged documents. In 2023, Hanbo, the company involved in the construction, said the apartments were sold without its knowledge. Manday, who worked with Hanbo on the project, is accused of orchestrating the scheme.
Police investigated claims that forged documents were used to sell apartments under Hanbo’s name.
Authorities previously released a detailed inventory of items found in Manday’s penthouse, which was seized under court order. The penthouse was valued at MVR 7.8 million, and the Prosecutor General’s Office said goods worth MVR 7 million were recovered during the search.
Hanbo earlier stated that its official bank account was opened with the State Bank of India. However, Manday allegedly forged the signature of the company’s managing director and collected payments from customers through rufiyaa and dollar accounts opened at BML.
