President appoints new Ambassadors to Qatar and UAE

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed new ambassadors to the State of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
At a ceremony held at the President's Office, the President presented Letters of Credence to Adam Shareef Umar, who has been appointed Ambassador of the Maldives to the State of Qatar, and Thoriq Ibrahim, who has been appointed Ambassador of the Maldives to the United Arab Emirates.
Adam Shareef Umar previously served as Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works in the current administration. He has also held Cabinet positions in previous governments and has served in senior roles at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Thoriq Ibrahim previously served as Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy under the current administration. He has also held ministerial portfolios and other senior government positions in previous administrations.
The appointments follow parliamentary approval granted during the Parliament sitting on 15 June.
Parliament endorsed the appointments of both Adam Shareef Umar and Thoriq Ibrahim before they were formally appointed by the President.
The newly appointed ambassadors will represent the Maldives in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, two countries with which the Maldives maintains close diplomatic and economic relations.
